COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course provides the skills and knowledge required to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in line with first aid guidelines determined by the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) and other Australian national peak clinical bodies.
This course applies to all persons who may be required to provide a cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) response in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.
This course is aimed at early childhood workers and educators who work with school age children in and outside school hours care and vacation programs, new parents, school leavers and mature age persons who are looking for work or who are existing workers seeking to renew their qualifications.

It is recommended, by the Australian Resuscitation Council, that a CPR refresher program is undertaken every 12 months.
Specific licensing/regulatory requirements relating to this competency, including requirements for refresher training should be obtained from the relevant national/state/territory Work Health and Safety Regulatory Authorities.

Reading and writing – a learner will be able to read, comprehend and write a range of texts within a variety of contexts.
Oral communication – a learner will be able to use and respond to spoken language including some unfamiliar material within a variety of contexts.
Digital literacy – a learner will be able to use a variety of digital devices and their applications/programs/software within a variety of contexts.

AWARD ISSUED

Students who successfully complete this nationally recognised training will be awarded the statement of attainment for:

LOCATION and TYPES OF TRAINING

First Aid Tamworth schedule regular/weekly Community Training Courses in TAMWORTH NSW and occasional Community Training Courses in GUNNEDAH NSW.

Our Tamworth Courses are held in the ‘John Parsons Club House’ at the West Tamworth Tennis Club (Gidley St, West Tamworth), course dates are displayed when the “Book a course” tab / button is clicked and the course selected.

Private, Onsite training sessions are also available on request.

BLENDED LEARNING DELIVERY

First Aid Tamworth utilise a blended learning structure for the delivery of our Nationally Accredited CPR and First Aid Training courses.
The Online Learning is informative and interactive, encompassing the essential, relevant CPR and First Aid information required for students to gain the skills and knowledge to provide CPR/first aid response to a casualty in line with first aid guidelines determined by the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) and other Australian national peak clinical bodies.
All Participants will be required to complete online Theory Modules to fulfill the Knowledge/theory requirements of the enrolled training program.
All Participants are required to attend a Face to Face Practical Assessment session, to demonstrate the required skills in an environment that provides realistic in-depth, scenarios and simulations to assess the students skills and knowledge.
It is preferred and encouraged that students complete the Online Learning prior to attending the selected Face to Face Practical Assessment session.

PRE COURSE LEARNING

The Online Learning is accessed via our RTO’s Student Learning Portal (www.bwfat.com.au).
On enrolment students are emailed an enrolment activation link. Once students have activated their enrolment they will have unlimited access to the RTO’s Online learning Portal for the enrolment timeframe. 
At the completion of each Online Learning module, students will be required to successfully complete a knowledge assessment to demonstrate they have gained the knowledge required to complete the module.

COURSE TIMES

Our Community Courses are scheduled to Start at 9am.
The Face to face component of our Community CPR Course usually requires approx. 1-1 ½  hours

Please bring a form of ID, your USI and a notepad/paper and a pen if you wish to take notes.

WHAT WILL I WEAR?

Please wear clothes that will enable you to fulfill the practical assessment requirements of this course eg. CPR assessment on the floor

ASSESSMENT

There are both theory and practical assessments within the HLTAID009 – CPR course to ensure that students have gained the required knowledge and ability to perform the skills in this unit.

Assessment Methods:

  • Multiple choice questions
  • Practical demonstrations/skills observations
  • Short answer questioning
  • Completion of an incident report

It is a requirement of this course that practical demonstration of CPR must be performed for 2 minutes on the floor.
