COURSE DESCRIPTION
This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to a casualty. The unit applies to all workers who may be required to provide a first aid response in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.
Specific licensing requirements relating to this competency, including requirements for refresher training, should be obtained from the relevant state/territory Work Health and Safety Regulatory Authority.
It is a requirement of this course that you are physically capable of performing uninterrupted CPR for at least 2 minutes on a CPR manikin placed on the floor.
AWARD ISSUED
Students who successfully complete this nationally recognised training will be awarded the statement of attainment for:
- HLTAID011 Provide first aid
- HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation
REFRESHER COURSE
A refresher course is available if you hold a current HLTAID011 Provide First Aid certificate in this case there is no pre course theory to complete.
PRE COURSE LEARNING
Our course is blended with a pre-course theory component which will be mailed out to you. This must be completed prior to attending the face to face component of the course.
COURSE TIMES
Face to face training is approx. 8 hours and starts at 9am

You are welcome to bring your lunch or you can purchase it at the Club.

ASSESSMENT
There are both theory and practical assessment in this course to ensure that you have gained the required knowledge and ability to perform the skills in this unit.
Assessment Methods
- Multiple choice questions
- Practical demonstrations/skills observations
- Short answer questioning
- Completion of an incident report
It is a requirement of this course that practical demonstration of CPR must be performed for 2 minutes on the floor.
